Obituary

William "Bill" Wheeler, 63 of Middletown, devoted husband & best friend of Susan (Taylor) Wheeler passed away on Saturday April 20,2024 with his wife & cherished friend Pam by his side after a courageous fight due to complications following a double lung transplant.

Bill was born on November 20,1960 in New Haven, CT, son of Professor Robert Wheeler & Celia (Whorf) Wheeler. He grew up in (Pine Orchard) Branford before moving to Middletown in 1993. He met his wife at a company Christmas party, and they were married on April 13,1996. They were practically inseparable until Bill's passing. They recently celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. Prior to his retirement, he was a Technical Specialist at Ricoh, USA for 32 years. Bill loved being outdoors working in the yard alongside his wife, enjoyed walks on the beach, trips to Aruba, or just sitting on the back deck with a beer or a glass of wine. He was a caring, sweet, funny guy with a contagious laugh.

Besides his wife and parents, Bill is survived by his sister Donna, brother Bob and wife Lisa, his sister and brother-in-law Jodi and Bob Petrzala as well as his nieces, nephews, cousins and so many caring friends (Pam & Jim, Heather & Jason, Lorraine & Joel). He will also be truly missed by his cats Calvin and Stella.

Bill's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, and medical staff both in Boston (Dr. Shelsey Johnson) and NY who cared for Bill and worked tirelessly to give him more time to spend with us especially Dr. Luis Angel, Dr. Jake Natalini, and Dr. Erin Fitzgerald. They thought of Bill as a member of the NY transplant team family and cared deeply about him.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Bill's memory to LiveOnNY foundation, 30-30 47th Ave. Long Island City, NY 11101(LiveOnNY.org/donate/donations) or Cat Tales, PO Box 901 Middletown, CT 06457 (Info@CatTalesCT.org.
