A lifelong professional, Thomas built his career as a truck driver, a role through which he displayed a steadfast work ethic and an enduring commitment to reliability and service. His professional endeavors extended beyond the open road; Thomas volunteered as a fireman with the South Fire District in Middletown during the 1970s, a testament to his willingness to serve and protect his community. Additionally, he played a key role in Emergency Management for Middletown, helping to ensure the safety and preparedness of those around him in times of need.

Known for his love of classic cars and his enjoyment of working on them, Thomas’s passion for mechanics brought him solace and joy. Whether meticulously restoring an engine or simply admiring the unique lines of a cherished vintage model, he found great fulfillment in the world of automobiles. His enthusiasm for classic cars was not just a hobby but a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and tradition.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Stacey Martell (Jason), as well as two loving grandchildren, each of whom brought him pride and happiness. Thomas was predeceased by his mother, Anne Bruno Wiernasz, and his father, Walter Wiernasz.

A Funeral Mass held at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, located at 10 Elm Street, Middletown, CT 06457, on Thursday August 6, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Following the service, burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, 305 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457.
