Shirley G. Biss, 95, of Middletown, CT died Thursday May 4, 2023 at Wadsworth Glen Health Care with her beloved family by her side. She was born in Derby, CT, the daughter of the late John W. and Genevieve (Chobian) Biss.

Prior to her retirement, Shirley was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Connecticut Valley Hospital for a number of years and retired after working for Middlesex Hospital for nearly 20 years. She took exemplary care of her many patients and was well-known for her funny jokes and even dressed as a clown occasionally to raise their spirits. Shirley was also known for her singing, beginning her career as a teenager and continued performing throughout her entire life - especially at local nursing homes during her retirement years. She was a member of the Middlesex Vocal Chords and performed in several community shows.

Her greatest pride and joy resided in her family, which she proudly watched grow over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Long of Middletown; grandchildren, Rebecca Long of Portland, Garrett Long and his wife Jody of Avon, and Samantha Aresco and her husband Louie of Haddam; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Biss of FL. She was predeceased by her brother, John Biss Jr; and sister, Joan Schrag.

Her Funeral Liturgy will be held Wednesday, May 10th at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Middletown. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Middletown.
