Severina Aracely Perez of Cromwell, CT, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Ramon Perez.
Born in Havana, Cuba, on February 21, 1918, Severina was the daughter of Namesio and Encarnacion (Navarro) Marrero. She emigrated to the United States with her family in the mid-1960s, leaving Cuba to flee communism, and they settled in Clinton, CT. Severina worked for many years at the Chesebrough Ponds facility, where she retired in 1985.
Severina is survived by her loving daughters, Alicia Fleck and her husband, John, of Cromwell, and Maria Palenzuela of Miami, FL. She leaves behind cherished grandchildren, Jackie, Peter, John, Daniel, and Christine; great-grandchildren, John, Alicia, Alejandro, Vanessa, Victoria, Liam, and Ava; and great-great-grandchildren, Joseph and Benjamin. She is also survived by her sister, Sofia Rios, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Severina was predeceased by her son, Ramon Perez.
Severina was an extraordinary wife, mother, and grandmother, devoted to her family with unwavering commitment, strength, love, and support. Her legacy of care and compassion will be cherished by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at Graceland Funeral Home in Coral Gables, FL, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, November 9th, with entombment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Doral, FL.
