Santi “Sam” N. Ranno, 83, of East Hartford, husband of the late Virginia “Ginny” (Greene) Ranno, died Saturday October 10, 2026 at Hartford Hospital.

He was born in Middletown, the son of the late Carmelo “Carl” Ranno, Sr. and Connie (Misenti) Ranno. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Sam served with the US Navy. He was a firefighter with the South Farms Fire District achieving the position of Deputy Chief after eleven plus years of service. Sam was an active advocate of Veterans’ rights and made many trips to Washington with his wife to support Veterans’ services. He was a life member of the VFW, American Veterans’ serving as 1st Vice Commander, and Vietnam Veterans of America

His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday (Oct. 28th) at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 10 Elm St., Middletown. There are no calling hours.
