Obituary

On Saturday, December 7, 2024, his 81st birthday, Salvatore J. Monarca of Uncasville, passed away, and received the greatest birthday gift he could have, and was reunited with the love of his life, his late wife Barbara (Randall) Monarca.

Sal grew up in Middletown and was a long-time resident of Middletown, Colchester and Lebanon. He was a veteran serving with the Army National Guard. Prior to his retirement, he was the Director of Facilities with Mediplex of Wethersfield.

He was the son of the late, Joseph S. Monarca, and Esther (Misenti) Monarca. He married Barbara in 1965, and they were inspiring examples of how to live a life of fun, laughter, and love to their two children Kelly Paige (wife of Todd Paige) of Groton, and Michael Monarca (partner of Aziz El Badaoui) of Princeton, NJ.

Sal's greatest gift (and his true pleasure) was his ability to make others laugh and smile. As the oldest of five siblings, he was a prankster and began teasing and joking with them early on, and never stopped. He is survived by brothers Edward (Susan) and Joseph (Denise) Monarca, and sisters Esther (Robert) Blade and Maria (James) Lane, all of Middletown. He was always a fun-loving Papa to his grandchildren Christopher (Kacee) Paige, Bethany (Stephen) Pace, Alyssa (Ryan) Cassidy, Michael (Mackenzie) Paige, and also 5 great grandchildren. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, and he had a unique ability to make each of them think they were his favorite!
