Russell Paul Maxfield, 60, of Middletown passed away on Monday November 25, 2024, at Middlesex Hospital. He was the Jeep loving husband of Kathleen McGovern Maxfield, throughout their marriage of 28 years.

Russell was born in Barre, Vermont on October 11, 1964, son of Lois Pratte and the late Harry Maxfield. He spent his young years working on his grandfather's farm tending to the many cows and land. After graduating Cabot High School, Russell joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country from 1983 to 1987. He was currently employed as a client manager with Untied Health Care who he worked for over the last 28 years.

Although he was dedicated to his work at UHC, his true calling was as a dad: a sports dad and a dance dad. Russell coached basketball and soccer in the Middletown community and became the ultimate dance dad at Caffery's Dance and Gymnastics Studio.

In recent years Russell spent many hours researching his family's ancestry and is proud he and his children are decedents of the Mayflower. At any given time, Russell could be found checking the score of a Boston Sports team, riding around town topless in his Jeep Wrangler, or watching old western movies. Russell and Kathleen enjoyed vacationing, especially when it involved following around their favorite artists to concerts.

He is the loving father of Brooke Lynn, Brennen Tyner, and Jack Brady; brother of, Norris and Lynn Maxfield, Dana and Brenda Maxfield and Marcia and Tom Turner; son-in-law of Alice McGovern; brother-in-law to, Brian and Sandra McGovern; and uncle to Erin Colleen and Grace Quinn McGovern and many more nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandparents Addie and J. Earl Pike, father-in-law, Mickey McGovern, his sister, Mona Ison, brothers Tony and Clyde Maxfield, and nephew Nathan Turner. Russell leaves behind an extended family of friends and community who will always remember him sipping Budweiser around a bonfire listening to The Rolling Stones with the family dog Jules.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday Dec 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the State Veterans Cemetery.
