Rosemarie
Pieta
Jul 1, 1936 — Nov 26, 2025
Durham
Rosemarie (Dlugolenski) Pieta, 89, of Durham, wife of the late John J. Pieta Sr., passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 25, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Middletown, daughter of the late John and Stacia (Rebut) Dlugolenski. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary at Coginchaug Regional High School and then as a manager of an underwriting group for Aetna.
Rosemarie, fondly known as "Honey" enjoyed her time with family and friends. She had many adventures around the world with her dear friend Pat, playing cards with her Skip-Bo buddies, and get-togethers with her high school friends. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Durham Fair and serving tea parties at the Wadsworth Mansion.
Nothing brought her more joy than the moments spent with her grandchildren – whether it was baking, making pierogis for Christmas, pickling cucumbers from her garden, or going to the movies and staying until the very end of the credits.
Rosemarie is survived by her children, Patricia Savitsky of Colchester, Kathleen Cunningham and her husband Wil of Florida, John J. Pieta Jr. and his wife Shanna of Wallingford, David L. Pieta of Durham, and Susan Bianchi and her husband Damian of Durham, grandchildren Eric Savitsky, Daniel Savitsky, Jason Savitsky, Robert Kulig, Lynnette Bellemare, Melanie Pieta, Stephanie Pieta, John Pieta III, Amelia Bianchi, Christina Bianchi, Damian Paul Bianchi, great grandchildren Kamrin, Weston, Madison, Savannah, Ryan, and Gavin. Including the unconditional love she received over the years from her adored pets, Kitty-boo, Doc, and Barney. She was predeceased by her husband John and sister, Barbara Santangelo.
Rosemarie's family would especially like to thank Felicia and Gina for all the love and support provided over the past months.
