Robert "Smokey" W. Smoloski, of Middletown, passed away on February 28, 2026 in St. Petersburg, Fl. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Walter and Ceclia (Sierpinski) Smoloski. Robert graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School Class of '55 where he played football. He was employed at Suzio York Hill, CB Stone Oil, drove oil tankers until his retirement, then he drove for Xenelis Construction.
Robert was married to the late Sandra (Murphy) Smoloski. He is survived by their children, Debra Smoloski, Gail Smoloski Heil (James), grandchildren, Dennis Harvey (Amanda), Jimmy Heil (Eliza), Robert Heil (Lindsey Best), great-grandchildren, Joey and Jade Harvey, great- great grandchild, Payton Polloek. He was predeceased by his siblings, Dr. Walter Smoloski, Jr. and Diane Smoloski.
Smokey enjoyed his winters in St. Petersburg, Fl, and had many close friends, neighbors, especially Paul and Gloria Drouin, who looked after him and took great care of him.
His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday (May 16th) at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Middletown. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
