Robert L.
Kosenski
Sep 9, 1927 — Jan 15, 2023
Middletown
Robert L. Kosenski, 95, of Middletown, husband of the late Irene S. (Robakiewicz) Kosenski, passed peacefully at home, on Sunday, January 15, 2023 with family by his side.
Robert, "Bob", was born in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late John and Mary (Lewoc) Kosenski. Robert's skills in mechanics and drafting led him to a career first in lace mill operations at Wilcox Lace, and then in Manufacturing Engineering at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. He is a veteran, having served in both the U.S. Army as well as the Merchant Marine. Bob enjoyed over 35 years of retirement, most of it with Irene, the love of his life. They traveled the US cross country, explored new places and frequented favorites, always finding a great restaurant to try.
As an avid air-cooled Volkswagen fan, he not only restored a classic 1974 Thing, but he enjoyed going to car shows with his family and exploring the backroads of CT. Without a doubt, Bob always kept a fly rod handy, to take advantage of good fishing spots they may happen upon. Bob and Irene could often be seen enjoying their morning coffee while watching the river at Harbor Park.
Robert is survived by his children Karen Kosenski of Clinton, Aimee Kosenski and her partner David Jacoboski of Glastonbury, Richard Kosenski and his wife Marla of Branford, and Lisbeth Kosenski of New Haven. He is pre-deceased by his two brothers, John Kosenski of Lafayette, CO, and Eugene Kosenski of Union, NJ, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday January 20, 2023 at St. Pius X Church. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Biega Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
