Robert E.
Hurd
Aug 15, 1937 — Dec 16, 2024
Niantic
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Ernest Hurd, beloved Husband, father, grandfather and friend. He peacefully departed on December 16 surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on August 15, 1937, in Laconia New Hampshire, Bob lived a life defined by love, kindness, generosity and dedication to those he cherished. For 41 years, he was a devoted husband to his deceased wife Mary Anne, sharing a bond that inspired everyone who knew them. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure and enduring love.
A proud and loving father, Bob always put his family first. He will always be remembered by his children Marcie, her husband Eric and his son Billy and his wife Brenda, and is now together again with his loving son Bobby. Bob was also a doting grandfather and brought joy to his eight grandchildren. Bob also had eight great grandchildren with another on the way in 2025. Bob also leaves behind his younger brother Dennis Hurd and his wife Sharon.
Bob had a passion for his years of dedicated work at Pratt and Whitney that started in 1959. His love of the 747 jet is well self-documented and very evident. His success in Sales and Marketing at Pratt and Whitney helped the company grow over Bob's years with them, and Bob was a primary participant in developing Fed Ex as one of Pratt's biggest customers.
Bob had many favorite things in life, like, UConn Women's Basketball, avid reader of books, traveling with friends and their families, spending time with his kids, grand kids and great grandchildren. However, his favorite thing in life was being married to his wife Mary Anne. The love and laughter they shared together was a poem in the making.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in the cherished memories and enduring love Bob has left behind. His warmth, humor, and wisdom will remain with us forever. Rest in peace, dear Dad. You are deeply loved and will be dearly missed. A private graveside service is planned for early 2025.
