Robert (Bob) Paul Bugai, 52 of Durham, beloved husband of Jennifer (Vath) Bugai, died Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital.  Bob was born in Middletown, son of Ruth (Thurston) Bugai and the late Henry J. Bugai, Sr.

Bob was a 1988 graduate of Coginchaug High School in Durham.  He attended Stone Academy and briefly worked at the Ames Department Store offices doing a travel-related position before going full-time at Stop & Shop.  He was employed there for 35 years, most recently the Produce Manager at the Wallingford and Meriden stores.

An avid sports fan, Bob traveled the US to see his favorite Dallas Cowboys play in as many stadiums as possible.  He also enjoyed watching the Yankees.  His most favorite was vacationing in Cape Cod relaxing at his cottages in Dennisport. At home he loved to sit on the front porch or back deck with his 2 beloved dogs to unwind after work.

Bob was a quiet person until you got to know him.   He was a loyal and devoted friend to many and cherished the friendships he made.

In addition to his wife and mother, Robert is survived by four brothers Dennis and his wife Beth Bugai of Middletown, John and his wife Rosanne Bugai, James and his wife Jiji Bugai, and Henry Jr. and his wife Annjeannette Bugai all of Durham, three sisters, Jean Janssen and husband Jack of Auburn NY, Diane Macala of Durham and Carol Massey and husband Ron of Junction City KS, a brother-in-law Larry Macala of Meriden and 29 nieces and nephews.
