Robert G. "Bob" Augur passed away peacefully on April 16th after a prolonged illness.  Born on August 7, 1939 in Hartford, Bob was the son of Kenneth E. and Laura (Goodman) Augur of Middlefield and husband of the late Gretchel (Schaefer) Augur.

A 1957 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown before attending Rensalaer Polytechnic Institute and graduating from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.  He worked at Raymond Engineering in Middletown before beginning his thirty-year career with Connecticut Light & Power, Hartford Electrical Light Company and Northeast Utilities, retiring in 1995.

Bob had many interests and hobbies, including playing the mandolin in bluegrass bands and studying astronomy as a serious amateur.  Bob loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them on Cedar Island in Clinton.

Bob leaves behind his son Charles Augur and his dear companion Holly Pearce of Durham, daughter Carolyn Augur and her husband Matthew Lubinsky of Simsbury and his beloved grandchildren Brooke and Charles Phineas Birbara also of Simsbury.  He will be missed by his many friends as well.

A graveside service at the Middlefield cemetery will take place at 10:30 on Saturday, April 25th, a celebration of Bob's life to follow the burial, where the family asks that all bring instruments to play. In lieu of flowers, the family ask you consider making a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research .
