South Windsor

Obituary

Rita Satagaj, 94, of South Windsor (formerly of Rockfall) passed peacefully into eternity on February 4, 2024 in her home.  Rita was born on July 10, 1929 in Berlin, New Hampshire to Roland and Florence Rousseau. As a young girl, her family moved to Haddam, CT.  After high school, she met and married the love of her life, Frank Satagaj, on September 3, 1949.  They lived a happy life together for 58 years, and raised their four sons with hard work and integrity.

Rita liked traveling with her husband and good friends, Irma and Leo Shemeth.  She also enjoyed playing cards and the occasional trip to the casinos.  But the true love of her life was being a mother and homemaker for her husband and four sons.  She adored her two grandchildren and spending time with her three great granddaughters.  She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by two sons, Alan Satagaj, and Steven Satagaj and his wife, Judy, and a daughter-in-law, Paula Satagaj.  Also, two grandchildren, Esther Satagaj, and Benjamin Satagaj and his wife, Nicole.  Also, three beautiful great granddaughters, Gianna, Elissa, and Eliana.  She is survived by two siblings, Raymond Rousseau and Doris Leclerc, and her niece, Rachel Leclerc, and many other nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She is predeceased by her husband Frank, and two of her children, Gary Satagaj and James Satagaj.  Also, three siblings, Armond Rousseau, Paul Rousseau, and Jackie Arnold.

The family would like to thank Thia Bosco, Emily Manchester, Wendy Gabriel, and Lynn Curti, for their warm and loving care given to mom in the last years of her life.  Also, much gratitude to the Vernon Homecare and Hospice.
