Richard Lewis Walker, 86, of Irmo, South Carolina formerly of Portland, CT passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. He was born on November 27, 1937 in North Conway, New Hampshire to the late Lillian Rose and Donald Walker.

Richard retired from Kaman Aerospace after almost 30 years as a general maintenance worker. He moved to South Carolina in 2011 to enjoy his retirement. He loved woodworking, traveling, camping, and gardening. Richard was an avid NASCAR fan and attended many races throughout the years. He also was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne Ventres Walker of Irmo, SC; daughter, Cindy Whitman (Darrin) of Bristol, CT; sons, Richard Walker, Jr. (Catherine) of Bristol, CT and Jeffrey Walker (Crestina) of Newington, CT; grandchildren, Daniel Eichert, Emma & Zachary Walker; step-daughter, Susan Eichert of West Columbia, SC; sister, Ethel Richards of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his son, Craig Walker, and his sister, Carol Bogan.

Burial will be held at Burr Cemetery in Higganum, Saturday May 4th, at 10:30 am with full military honors.
