Richard Alan "Gug" Gugliemino, 85, of Cromwell, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. He was born in Middletown, CT, on March 18, 1941, to the late Joseph and Mary (Cannamela) Gugliemino.

Richard was a Specialist 5 (T)(E-5) in the U.S. Army from December 1963 thru December 1965, along with being a Cromwell volunteer firefighter for almost 3 decades.

He married his wife, Marie Louise Varrato, in 1966, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 3, 2026.

He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joline Gugliemino, Jr. and by his daughter, Denise Gugliemino Davis along with his grandchildren, Bethany Gugliemino, Anna (Gugliemino) and Ben Hastings, Christopher and Katlynn Davis, Sara (Davis) and Brian Guski, and Emily Davis, along with his 5 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia and Levi Davis and Elizabeth and Charles Hastings.

Richard is also survived by his sister, Paula (Gugliemino) Luna, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Maria (Gugliemino) Swift, and his brother, Joseph Gugliemino, Jr.

Richard will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11 am at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Drive, Middletown. Friends may gather prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
