Obituary

Richard D. Bond, 77, of Burlington, beloved husband of Jacqueline (Santoro) Bond, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Hartford Hospital.  He is the son of the late Harold and Rose Bond.  Prior to his retirement, Richard served as a police officer in the town of Burlington for over 35 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Melissa Morin and her husband Dan of Terryville, son David Bond and his wife Johanna of Portland, and daughter Lori Atkins of Colchester; his grandchildren, Adam Wagner, Savannah Morin and Joe Waida, Sydney Morin, Madison Bond, Christian Bond, Lindsay Atkins and Thomas Atkins.

Dick, as he was known by many, had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. He was dedicated, loyal and most importantly, wholeheartedly devoted to his family. He not only served his country for over 10 years in the Connecticut National Guard, but was so proud to serve the Burlington and Harwinton communities with his unwavering dedication for over 35 years.  When not on the golf course, he would be watching his beloved UConn Women's basketball or cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox.  Although his truly favorite past time was enjoying his wife's Sunday sauce or indulging in a large bowl of shrimp cocktail.  Dick loved his many dear friends and always brought a smile to every gathering he attended and was the life of the party.  Most importantly he had a profound impact on his family and friends that will live on forever.
