Obituary

Raymond L. Markowski, 89, of Tamarac, FL, formerly of Middletown, and Cromwell, eternally devoted husband of the late MaryAnn (Kowalczyk) Markowski, passed away on Tuesday October 1, 2024. He was born in Middletown, son of the late John and Frances (Konopka) Markowski. Ray was a veteran serving with the US Army in New Mexico. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Mental Health Supervisor at Connecticut Valley Hospital for 37 years. He also served on the CVH volunteer fire department as well as avidly maintaining the greenhouse there.

Ray is survived by his daughter Susan Morin and her husband Joseph of Cromwell.  Two grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel and one great-grandchild Lucas, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Theresa and Frances, brothers, John, Edward, Stanley, Thomas, Joseph, and Myron.

While still in Connecticut he was an active parishioner of St. Mary's Church of Middletown and a member of the senior club.  He also belonged to the Polish National Home and Catholic War Veterans associations. After moving to Florida, he became President of the men's club for his senior community in Tamarac. During his many years in Florida, he enjoyed taking several cruises and trips with his beloved wife. His simple pleasures in life were talking long walks, fishing, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 10:30 am a.m. at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family and Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown.
