Jansak
Dec 19, 1956 — Aug 4, 2024
Middletown
Peter Jansak, 67, lifelong resident of Middletown, CT died Sunday, August 4, 2024, peacefully at home after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer.
Peter was born on December 19, 1956, in Middletown, CT. The son of Richard and Mary Ann (Starr) Jansak, he attended elementary school in Middletown and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1975. After graduation he went on to become a 4th year apprenticeship program graduate at Pratt & Whitney and worked there for 20 years, first as a vertical lathe operator and then was accepted into a three-year Tool and Die apprenticeship program. He was then selected as a member of an elite group to attend a 4th year apprenticeship. He worked as a Master Tool and Die Maker for the balance of his years at P&W. An amazing overall machinist, he fabricated many unique items and machined a special de-hooker used in Shark fishing. He also worked at Jarvis Tool Manufacturing for 20 years and the last several years at Labco Welding in Middletown, CT.
Peter was an avid fisherman and hunter for most of his life. He was always looking for that first trout filet or venison steak of the season. His hunting and fishing companions were his three best, nearly life-long, friends, Andy Saltus, Guy Dapkus and (the late) Peter Jones. He also spent countless days fishing with his son, Richi, along the CT River, reservoirs and charters out to sea. Enjoying these activities to his last days and always saying that he enjoyed life in general. He loved his toys – his motorcycle and snowmobile. He also enjoyed lots of weekends throughout the past 20 years in Proctorsville, VT which was his home away from home.
Gardening was one of Peter's passions. He was very proud of his beautiful garden. He had an abundance of tomatoes, cucumbers, various types of peppers, squash and zucchini. He loved those jalapenos! Using his dad's recipe, he made homemade pickles which he shared with the family.
Peter was predeceased by his father, Richard, and brother William (Merlie). He is survived by his mom, Mary Ann (Starr) Jansak, his wife Terri Harvey Jansak, son Richard "Richi", and two siblings, Patricia Jansak of Cromwell, CT and Raymond (Cheryl) Jansak of Higganum, CT and several nieces and nephews, along countless other close friends.
At Peter's request, there are no services. The Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, CT is assisting
