Obituary

Patricia Y. (Woods) Tironi, of Middletown, died on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Middlesex Hospital. She was born in Middletown, daughter of the late Ernest and Teresa (Darmofalski) Woods, Sr.

Patricia was employed at City Hall in Middletown in the Department of Consumer Protection for 26 years. Prior to the city, she worked for the late Charles Chace, M.D. and podiatrists, David Unger and Stephen Perlmutter. While under the employment of the late Dr. Chace, he offered to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse by putting her through nursing school. However, she, regretfully, declined in order to help support her parents and siblings, as her father had sustained an injury while working for the state forestry department.

Patricia had a beautiful high soprano singing voice and sang in her school and church choirs as a young girl. Every Christmas Eve, she sang a solo of the "Ave Maria" in Latin at the midnight mass at St. Francis Church in Middletown.

Patricia was also a lover of animals, particularly, dogs; however, she loved all animals and regularly set out bird feeders and fed the birds, animals, and wildlife that would frequent her yard.
