Nicolo "Nick" Porriello, 85, of Higganum, beloved husband of Eleanor (Riera) Porriello, died on Tuesday September 24, 2024. He is son of the late Alphonso and Mary (Davilio) Porriello, Sr.

Nick was a proud veteran serving with the US Army. He was an active parishioner of St. Peter Church as well a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed being a dedicated Rotarian member.  He loved vacationing with his wife, was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses throughout his life and continued to work until his passing.  Cooking was another of Nick's great loves; he had a talent for transforming simple ingredients into delicious meals. His warmth and generosity were felt by all who knew him. He was known for his green thumb and for nurturing both plants and people.  He took joy in sharing the fruits of his labor, sharing fresh produce, cheese and biscuits with others.

Nick is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor, sons Philip Porriello (Cindy) of Higganum, Mark Porriello (Joseph Campbell) of Wethersfield, John Porriello (Chelsea Moore) of Glastonbury, brother Al Porriello, Jr. of Branford, sister Anna Marie Porriello of Cromwell, four grandchildren, Olivia, Joseph, Heather, Christopher, and two great-grandchildren, Reese and Cole.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday Oct 9th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Church, Higganum. Burial will follow at the State Veterans' Cemetery. Family and friends may gather prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to your local Boys & Girls Club.
