Nestor Gendreau, 99, of Higganum, beloved husband of Irene (Sirois) Gendreau, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at Middlesex Hospital.

Born in St. David, Maine, he was the cherished son of the late Baptiste and Julie (Clavette) Gendreau. Nestor lived a long and full life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and country.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Nestor served honorably during World War II. Following his military service, he built a successful career as an Electrical Supervisor with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he was respected for his skill and strong work ethic.

Nestor was a devoted husband to his wife, Irene Gendreau of Higganum, and a loving father to his children: Janet (Gendreau) and Greg Pixton of Berlin, CT; Gerald Gendreau and Becky O'Hara of Rye, NY; Kenneth Gendreau and June Westerlund of Leesville, SC; Linda (Gendreau) and John Boothroyd of Higganum, CT; and Dennis Gendreau and Terry (Griffin) of Guilford, CT. He also leaves behind his sister Irma Gendreau, PFM of Baie Saint Paul, Quebec; his sister Gilberte Evens of Bradenton, FL; his brother Real Gendreau and Therese (Michaud) of Hampden, ME; and his brother Eldon Gendreau and Gloria (Doiron) of Madawaska, ME; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; as well as many treasured nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Nestor was predeceased by his brothers Wallace, Edwin and Hervy, and sisters Anita Fecteau, Dorina LaMothe, and Yvette Quirion.

A man of deep faith, Nestor was a sexton of Saint Peter Church in Higganum for over 30 years. He also served as a communicant and an altar server. He was a proud and active member of the Knights of Columbus, (Fourth Degree), Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post Commander and Treasurer), and The American Legion.

Family and friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, CT on Tuesday May 5, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m.  A Funeral Liturgy will be held at Saint Peter Church, Higgamum on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11 a.m.  Burial will take place at the State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown, on Thursday May 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. with full military honors.
