Muriel Wahl, 94, a beloved resident of Middletown, CT, passed away on August 27, 2023. She was born and raised in the Scandinavian Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, and was the cherished daughter of the late Norwegian-born Roy and Anvorda Tandberg.
Muriel was a pillar of her community, known for her unwavering devotion to the Lutheran church and her selfless contributions to various charitable organizations throughout her remarkable life. Her passion for crafting, cross-stitch, and crewel embroidery allowed her to create beautiful works of art that reflected her creative spirit.
Her zest for life was evident in her love for hosting gatherings and her adventures traveling alongside her late husband, Arnold Wahl, and their dear friends, Georges and Danielle Neuman from Florida. Muriel and Arnold's shared enthusiasm for dance led them to the Sons of Norway club dances, where they reveled in the joy of the Polka. Muriel's dancing spirit was truly ageless, as she continued to dance well into her 90s and encouraged others to join her during her time at Heritage Commons in Middletown, CT. Her enthusiasm and zest for life were infectious, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Muriel's kindness and compassion knew no bounds, and she touched the lives of countless individuals with her warmth and generosity.
Muriel leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Gayle, and son-in-law, Robert Szczepanski, as well as her son, Eric Wahl, and daughter-in-law, Claudia Schiek. She is survived by four adoring grandchildren: Vanessa Kellas and fiancé Dan Clayton, Kristine Fletcher and husband Wayne, Malin Wahl, and Ben Wahl. Her legacy also lives on through her two great-granddaughters, Sadie Fletcher and Marcella Clayton, who will undoubtedly carry forward her spirit of love and joy. Additionally, Muriel is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who will forever remember her with affection.
Muriel was predeceased by her brother, Jack Tandberg.
A celebration of Muriel Wahl's life will be held at her daughter's home.
