Muriel F. Sullivan, 97 of Middlefield passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022 at Wadsworth Glen Health Care Center in Middletown, CT. She was born in Springfield, MA on August 23, 1925 to Albert and Olga Jefferson.

Muriel graduated from Classical High School in Springfield, MA, Springfield Junior College and from the University of Massachusetts where she was proud to be among the first graduating class of that school's university status.  Muriel went on to get her master's degree at Boston's Teachers College and taught science for many years at Boston's Teachers College, Technical High School in Springfield, East Hartford, CT schools and finally in Bloomfield, CT schools where she retired.

Muriel is survived by her daughter Eleanor Landers and her husband John of Durham, CT.  Her beloved grandchildren, Kevin Landers and his wife Devanshi of Boston, MA and Connor Landers of Queens, NY. Her nieces Susan LaRocco and Sharon Rossi and nephew Joseph Heenehan and many great nieces and nephews who brought her much joy.  She was predeceased by her husband Maurice J. Sullivan, son Maurice H. Sullivan, brother Albert J Jefferson, sister Dorothy Heenehan Roach and goddaughter Sandra Heenehan.

Muriel loved to be outdoors gardening, birdwatching or walking the beach during her retirement years in New Smyrna Beach, FL.  Coming from her days teaching science she had a strong appreciation for all things mother nature provides and remarking on nature's glory was one of her favorite phrases.  She was happiest spending time with her family and especially enjoyed being a part of her grandsons' growing-up years. Muriel was a communicant of St Colman Catholic Church, Middlefield.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday, December 5 ^th at 10:30 am at St. Colman Church 170 Hubbard St, Middlefield, CT.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers or donations, it is Muriel's wish you extend an act of kindness to someone in need.  To share memories or express condolences online please visit www.biegafuneralhome.com.
