Michael H. Scanlon, 69, of Higganum, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Hartford Hospital, after a hard-fought battle with an unexpected illness. He was born in Middletown, son of the late Howard and Dorothy (Puceta) Scanlon. Mike was employed as a jet engine mechanic at Pratt and Whitney for almost 40 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather Scanlon and her husband Peter Babins of Higganum; his cherished granddaughters, Juliet and Claire Babins; his sisters, Kelly Woods of Middletown and Sharon Nelson of Clinton; his brother, Brian Scanlon and his wife Debora of Tennessee; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mike loved spending time with his family, talking and visiting with friends, beautiful sunsets, cars, music, breakfast almost daily at Rise and Shine Cafe, and karaoke with friends at the Comfort Cafe and Riverside Tavern.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22nd from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, CT. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family, and a celebration of life will be held in the spring.
