Michael Daniel Gawlak, 61, of Middletown, passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

Michael was born and raised in Middletown, Connecticut, the son of the late Janina and Charles Gawlak. He spent much of his time outdoors, whether tending to his yard or fishing on his boat. He would often be found giving a treat to one of his beloved dogs, Hazel or Buddy. His favorite thing to do was to spend quality time with his beloved friends and family, these moments often ended in fits of laughter as there was never a dull moment. He was a cherished father, husband, and brother who bravely battled cancer for over 10 years. He has left a lasting mark on all our hearts and has left us with memories that will never be forgotten. He will be forever missed.

Michael is survived by his wife, Amy Gawlak, and his daughter, Rachel Gawlak of Middletown, CT. He left behind brothers, Charles Gawlak and his wife Ann Marie of Middletown, Mark Gawlak of Deep River, Matthew Gawlak and his wife Linda of Venice, FL, John Gawlak and his wife Barbara of Dunnellon, FL. Sisters, Christine Raissis and her husband Nicholas of Southington, Margaret Dougherty and her husband Michael of Brewster, NY. Besides his parents, Janina and Charles Gawlak, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Gawlak.

A wake will be held at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, CT on Thursday April 30th, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a Funeral service following at Biega Funeral Home.
