Mary S. Chowaniec, 85, of Middletown, wife of the late Edward Chowaniec, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Middlesex Hospital.  She was born in Jastarnia, Poland, daughter, of the late Karol A. and Anna (Pallasz) Struck. Prior to her retirement, Mary was employed with Pratt & Whitney and later with Northland as a manager.

Mary was an active member of Saint Mary of Czetochowa Church. She was past-president of the Polish National Home, and the Ladies Auxilary. She was a strong independent woman who enjoyed traveling, sewing cooking, and playing setback.

Mary is survived by her sons, Michael Chowaniec and his wife Michelle of Virginia; Greg Chowaniec and his wife Jean of Middletown, brothers, Karol Struck of Middletown, Joachim Struck of Bristol; sister, Sophie DiRenzo and her husband Louis of Middletown; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family of Mary would like to give a special thanks to Deanna Otrowski (niece) MaryAnn Matauro and Joyce Spiwak for all the help they gave Mary for the last few years.

Mary also requested that everyone say a Hail Mary for her.

Her Funeral liturgy will be held on Monday, October 16th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Middletown. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
