Mary E
Bois
Aug 20, 1947 — Jan 24, 2024
West Hartford
Mary Elizabeth (Haran) Bois passed away surrounded by family on January 24, 2024 after a short illness and a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Mary was born in Hartford, CT to James and Edna (Dillon) Haran.
Mary is survived by her three sisters, Susan Haran of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Martha Haran Sullivan of Niantic, CT and Jamie Haran Flaherty of Richmond, VA. Mary also leaves her three loving children and their families. Karen Bois of Belmont, MA, Michael and Donna Bois of Berlin, CT, and Thomas and Alissa (Bois) Sheils of Holliston, MA. Her seven adoring grandchildren, Victoria, Kristen and Bek Massey, Joshua and Bella Bois, and Emma and Dillon Sheils, as well as her three nieces Laura and Caroline Flaherty and Mary Kathleen Flaherty Mitchell.
Mary worked for two decades at the CT Labor Dept. After her retirement, Mary was very active in the National MS Society, receiving a special award for her more than 25 years of volunteer work.
Mary was a master of trivia, no one wanted to be on an opposing Trivial Pursuit team lest they be beat by her knowledge of the most obscure facts. She was a lover of gardening, reading and politics. She had a devotion to the UConn Huskies Women's and CT Sun basketball teams. Above all, Mary was probably best known for her huge heart, she gave of herself to everyone, and was loved by all who met her.
