Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marsha Judson, of Cromwell, on February 8, 2025, at the age of 81. Marsha passed away peacefully at Middlesex Hospital.

Born in Portland, Maine, Marsha was the beloved daughter of Carolyn (Denison) Johnson of New Hampshire and the late Gordon L. Johnson. She devoted much of her life to caring for others as the owner of a local daycare provider, where she touched the lives of many children and families. Her compassion and warmth will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marsha was a loving wife to her husband, Tom Judson. Marsha and Tom would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 10, 2025. She was also a cherished mother to her daughters, Carolyn Russell of East Hampton and Elizabeth Coonan, and her husband Brian, of Washington. Seven grandchildren, Fynn Russell, Patrick Coonan, Rachael McGee, Ryon Coonan, Madeline Coonan, Jonathan Coonan, Michael Coonan, six great-grandchildren, Jayden, Elise, Adian, Bella, Damon and Taylor.   She leaves behind her brothers Eric Johnson of North Carolina, Peter Johnson of New Hampshire, and David Johnson of Maine. Her sisters, Diane Johnson of Middletown, Cate Weir of North Carolina, and Peggy Lancaster of New Hampshire.

Marsha was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and had six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Marsha was a truly artistic person, performing as a singer throughout New England with "The Portable Folk Festival", and with her close friend Jerry Jacques as "A Wrinkle In Time". She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church of Middletown and enjoyed singing in the choir. In addition to singing, Marsha was a talented hand quilter. She was commissioned by the Governor's Office of Connecticut to create a hanging quilt, which was designed to represent various historical places and things Connecticut is well known for. Her love of cooking lead her to cater car show events, and fund-raising events at Middlesex Community College, and for MILE (Middletown Institute for Lifelong Education).

A celebration of Marsha's life will be held on May 3rd, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 at Covenant Living at 101 West St., Cromwell, CT 06416 with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Marsha's memory, or to one of Marsha's favorite charities: Benevolent Care Fund Living of Cromwell, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Marsha will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her kindness, spirit, and dedication to others will live on in the many lives she touched.
