Marc V.
Silvestrini
Jul 16, 1951 — Apr 22, 2024
Westbrook
Marc V. Silvestrini, 72, of Westbrook, formerly of Higganum, beloved husband of 49 years to Lucille (Rossignol) Silvestrini, passed away Monday (April 22, 2024) at Middlesex Hospital.
He was born in New Haven, son of the late Giuseppe and Amelia (Cappelloni) Silvestrini. Marc graduated with his bachelor's degree from Providence College and then went on to be a journalist with The Middletown Press and later The Waterbury Republican American newspapers.
Marc is survived by his wife Lucille; sons, Joseph Silvestrini and his wife Marta Coelho-Silvestrini of Durham, Michael Silvestrini and his wife Brittany (Linares) of Chester; daughter- in-law, Ashely Silvestrini of Westbrook; sister, Nike Kendall of RI; as well as six grandchildren, Abby, Luca, Walker, Sophia, Kora and Bryce. He was predeceased by his son, Matthew R. Silvestrini.
Marc was a father, husband, coach, brother, grand-father, friend, and colleague. His family was everything to him. He loved being called dad, pop, or pops. He especially loved grandpa. He would have the biggest smile when someone called him "coach".
The written word was his sword. With one word or phrase he could make the reader feel sad, euphoric, angry, or hopeful. He wrote for many publications on many different topics. His areas of knowledge were endless. One of his favorite things to do was to converse with his sons about topics such as black holes, history, books, and other dimensions etc. He was an avid reader, mostly science fiction and fantasy with the occasional Big Foot book. He read all of the classics years ago. Every vacation had at the minimum one bookstore shopping spree. He had a library in every apartment and home we lived in.
There is one word to describe him, content. He only needed his family, a book, his home and his dog (Molly). He loved deeply and forever. He will be missed.
A celebration of Marc's life will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the Middlesex Yacht Club, 276 Middlesex Turnpike, Chester, CT 06412 from 2 to 6 p.m. with Words of Remembrance at 3 p.m. All are welcome.
