Middletown
Louise (Cona) Rzeczka, 67, of Middletown, CT wife of the late George Rzeczka, Sr., passed away peacefully in her home on Monday January 12th 2026. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Carmello "Tony" and Ann Marie (Triano) Cona.
She is most remembered from her 23 years working as a self-checkout clerk at Stop & Shop in Middletown, CT. She retired in 2020 and is still well known and fondly remembered by customers and co-workers alike. She was recognized as the familiar and friendly face at the self-checkout where she brightened each customer's day with her smile.
Louise has always been an artistic person and loved doing crafts. She had a great talent for making a wreath for any occasion and often gifted her creations to family and friends. She also had a love for crocheting and making blankets. She was a dedicated dog mom, spoiling her two dogs, Chewy and Louie, who were her constant shadows.
Friends often described her as "everybody's mother." People in the neighborhood were always welcome. She was known for her kind heart and her nurturing spirit, always offering care, support and passion to those around her.
She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family. Family stories were shared at every opportunity. She lived for her sons, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, always telling everyone how proud she was of them. Her personality was larger than life which made her stories come alive so that you were living the moment with her.
Louise is predeceased by her husband George Rzeczka Sr., her mother Ann Marie (Triano) Cona, her father Carmello "Tony" Cona and her dog Chewy. She is survived by her sons, George Rzeczka, Jr. of Middletown, CT and Matthew Rzeczka of Old Lyme, CT; her brother, Charles Cona of Queens, NY; her stepmother, Barbara Cona of Naples, FL; her beloved grandchildren, Joseph Rzeczka and Gavin Rzeczka of Citra, FL; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Louie, who she loved dearly and who was a constant companion to her.
Her Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday January 30th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 79 S. Main St., Middletown, CT. Burial will be in the State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown, CT. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, CT on January 29th from 5 to 7 p.m.
