Laurie Ann Wilson, 55, of Higganum, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday March 9, 2024, at Middlesex Hospital. She was born in Middletown, daughter of the late Russell and Margaret "Pegge" (Moffitt) Wilson.

Laurie grew up in Higganum and spent the majority of her years "on the hill" rescuing any and every creature known to man, and tending to her gardens where she cultivated not only an array of beautiful flowers but also a robust variety of vegetables and herbs that she then turned into the most amazing homemade recipes. She took great pride in hosting the holidays where she meticulously crafted many a gourmet feast, even though she was always the last one to join the table ensuring everyone else was taken care of. That was Laurie's way, always doing for others- especially when it came to any living creature. Laurie graduated Haddam-Killingworth High School in 1986, where she was a competitive gymnast all while maintaining high honors. Her thirst for knowledge never ceased, and her commitment to perfection was apparent in every aspect of her life. Her true love and passion though was always her cherished family, abundance of incredible friends who were always there and her multitude of furry companions.

Laurie is survived by her brothers, Thomas Wilson and his wife Mary of Lyme, Michael Wilson and his wife Jennifer of Deep River;sisters, Deborah Wilson of Middletown, Katherine Roberts and her husband Peter of New London; nieces and nephew, Brooke Frey, Elizabeth Conniff and her husband Ben, Hannah Wilson, Elise Wilson, and Christopher Wilson; grand nephew and niece; Killian Conway and Kieran Conway. She also leaves behind her beloved tribe of current critters Charlie, Smoke, Tom-Tom & Henrietta-Chickaletta. She was predeceased by her soulmate, Peter Haas; and brother, Gary Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday Mar. 16th at 10:30 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial will be in East Cemetery, Cromwell. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
