Kenneth Errol Ouellette passed peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023.  Kennit, as his mother called him, is pre-deceased by his father, Roland Ouellette, mother, Aline Deschenes Ouellette and brother, Russell Ouellette.  Ken is survived by his wife, Deborah Cone Ouellette, his daughters, Eliska Ouellette Bayley and Myriah Hope Rodowicz, his sons-in-law, Stephen Bayley and Curtis Rodowicz, his grandchildren, Annabelle, Benjamin, Isabelle and Bryce, and his chosen daughter, Mackenzie Tyson St. Pierre, her husband Wayne and their son Wyatt.  Ken also leaves behind step-father, Rene Cormier, sister, Marsha Royce, brother, Donald Ouellette and his wife Louise and many nieces and nephews.

While in high school, Ken was part of the track and field team and could run a mile in under 5 minutes.  After graduation, Ken joined the United States Navy and served proudly from 1967 to 1971 on the USS Spiegel Grove.  After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Ken began a 40-year career as a licensed electrician at Pratt and Whitney in Middletown.  After his retirement in 2011, he began his second, and most important career, as a full-time grandfather.  As a father, Ken never missed a single sporting event for his daughters, and worked hard to provide yearly vacations at the beach in Old Saybrook and Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground.  Ken leaves behind fond memories of banjo camp, long walks on the sandbars in Old Saybrook, SCUBA diving, sailing on his Hobie Cat, and hanging out with other "snow-birds" at the blacksmiths forge in Fort Wilderness Campground.  The family would like to thank his caregiver and best friend, Francis, the Hospital for Special Care and the staff and volunteers at Middlesex Hospice Care.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 5th from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown.  A private burial with military honors at the State Veterans' Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
