Kathleen "Kathie"
Modlesky
Aug 10, 1959 — Jun 8, 2024
Middletown
Kathleen "Kathie" Modlesky, 64, of Middletown, had her final wish fulfilled on June 8, 2024. She was reunited with her parents Bernard "Doc" and Ann Marie Modlesky in Heaven. She died peacefully and comfortably with family holding her hands.
Kathie was born in Exeter, PA and grew up in Middletown. She graduated from Mercy High School in 1977 and got her BA in Special Education from SCSU. Retail was her love. She rose to leadership roles in management, training and human resources at Bob's Surplus, The Children's Place, Eddie Bauer, and the Cracker Barrell gift shop. She lived in South Carolina and later in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. She had been able to live with Holly and Kim in Middletown for the last seven years. She loved living "back home" and going for rides in her car exploring and having all those childhood memories come back. Kathie loved being with her family and spoiling her fur babies, especially her cats. Of course, being a Modlesky, she loved sports. She was an avid Red Sox, New England Patriots and UCONN basketball fan. Most of all, Kathie had her faith and found comfort in prayer and daily mass. She faced many health battles through the years and dealt with them with strength and courage. Even with her own challenges, she found ways to give to others.
Kathie is survived by brother, Bernard "Bud" Modlesky and his partner Karen Norton, sisters, Terri Modlesky and wife Kit Burke, and Holly Modlesky-Behm and wife Kim Modlesky-Behm, nephews, Max and Jake Modlesky. She was predeceased by her niece, Jane Modlesky.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (June 18th) at 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, prior to the services. Kathie will be brought to PA to be buried with her parents at a later date. Kathie loved all animals, and they loved her. Please consider donating in her honor to the Quincy Animal Shelter, 440 R East Squantum St. Quincy, MA 02171.
