Juliann Dohey LaPlaca, age 91, of Milford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born on April 21, 1935, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Tepley) Dohey.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Juliann's life was defined by her unwavering dedication to her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gandolfo Salvatore LaPlaca, as well as her brothers, Michael Dohey and John Dohey Jr., and her sister, Mary Scaglia.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Harrington of Milford, and by her grandchildren: Brynn Holt and her husband, Matt, and Melissa Cercone and her husband, Michael, along with their children, Owen and Ryan. Juliann is also survived by her son, Thomas LaPlaca, and his wife, Donna; her grandchildren Thomas LaPlaca (Megan), Sara LaPlaca, and Abigail Roth (Chris); her sister, Teresa Muenzen and her husband, Mark; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Juliann's professional life reflected her strong work ethic and sharp mind. She spent several years working at Yankee Metal before retiring to work alongside her husband in their family income tax business. Often described as the brains behind the operation, Juliann meticulously checked his work and cared deeply for their clients, ensuring everything was done with precision and integrity.

In her younger years, Juliann and her husband enjoyed a rich social life filled with travel, celebrations, and time spent with friends. Among the most cherished of these friendships was their lifelong bond with Pepe and Domenica Romano. She took great joy in entertaining during the holidays, vacationing with her family, and making visits back to Pennsylvania, where she grew up. Evenings often found her gathered around a card table with her husband and grandchildren, laughing, playing games, and sharing stories. In later years, she found her greatest peace at her condo in Siesta Key, Florida, where she especially cherished sitting on the lanai, enjoying the view, and watching the sunset with a glass of Chianti.
