Josephine (Jo) Lockhart, 98, of Haddam, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday December 7, 2023. She was born and brought up in Middletown, daughter of the late Salvatore and Filomena (Guglielmina) Garofalo, immigrants from Melilli, Sicily.  Jo moved to Haddam in 1980 and spent 43 years living with her daughter and son-in-law.

Jo worked full time as an underwriter for Middlesex Mutual for 11 years until her retirement.   She also held a part time job as a fashion consultant at a high-end clothing store, Kabachnick's, for 17 years.

In 1970, she was one of the organizers and a charter member of Middletown Emblem Club #452 and continued to help it grow and develop.  Any unfilled hours were spent with her Emblem sisters.   It played a big part in her life.   She was President from 1973-1974 and held many offices over the 53 years as a member.   She was a big supporter of education and inaugurated the clubs Scholarship Fund when she was president.  Over these years she made many lasting friendships throughout CT and beyond.

Her biggest joy was her family.  She is survived by her daughter, Georgianne Leone of Haddam, son, Edward Lockhart and husband Steven Siclari, Springfield, MA; two grandchildren Michele (Greg) Jordan, NC and Justin Lockhart, FL. and her nieces and nephews.

Heaven gained another beautiful and loving angel.

She was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Lockhart, son-in-law, Raymond Leone, and sister, Carmelina Siena.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13th from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
