John C. Skarb, 85, of Middletown, beloved husband of Eloise (Geary) Skarb, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Portland Care and Rehab Centre. Born and raised in Middletown, John was the cherished son of the late Walter and Julia (Waz) Skarb.
John, a proud veteran who honorably served in the United States Army, graduated from Hartford Technical Institute. He went on to dedicate more than 35 years to his career at Honeywell, earning multiple awards for outstanding customer service.
John's life was centered around his deep love for family. He is survived by his devoted wife Eloise; his daughters, Amy Herold and her husband Michael of Oxford, Susan O'Rourke and her husband Gerry of Essex and his sister, Theresa Russo of Middletown. He was the proud grandfather of six grandsons: Greg (and his wife Rebecca Herold), Daniel, and Ryan Herold (and his fiancée Hannah Macisco), Kevin, Patrick, and Connor O'Rourke, as well as a loving great-grandfather to Finn William Herold. John also leaves behind sister-in-laws Patricia and Sandra Skarb, brother-in-law Guy Lardizzone, and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his siblings; Walter and Stanley Skarb, his sister Marilyn Lardizzone and his brother-in-law John Russo. John's legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
Calling hours for John will be held on Saturday, December 7th, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Middletown, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
