John Edward Lavin, 83, of Middletown, beloved husband of Marjorie (Archer) Lavin, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at his home.  He was born in Pembroke, ME, son of Edward and Louise (Rogers) Lavin.  Prior to his retirement, he was a Senior Forensic treatment specialist at Whiting Forensic in Middletown. John was a significant part of unionizing "1199" at CVH Whiting Forensic and Riverview Hospital. He was active in the Union until his retirement.  John felt his biggest accomplishment was writing and testifying for the first hazardous duty package for the Whiting Forensic's 20-year retirement plan.

John joined the US Navy at 17 and served on the USS Hermitage LSD.  He was a member of the VFW and was a proud veteran who talked about his service until he passed. He was also a member of the ELKs.  After the navy, John came to Middletown by mistake. He and his friends left Pembroke, Maine and they were supposed to drop him off in Portland, Maine.  He fell asleep and they brought him to Middletown.  This is where he met the love of his life, Marjorie.  He believed his wife was #1 and made sure everyone knew it.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family.

John is survived by his wife Marjorie, two daughters, Tanya Lemanski of Cromwell, Shelley Maura of Frostproof, FL, son, Dorell Archer of Middletown, grandchildren, Jason McLean, Jocelyn McLean, Josh Lemanski, Jamie Lemanski, Paul Didato and John Didato, great grandchildren, Madison Didato, Lydia and Avery McLean. He is also survived by a very special person, Robin Faith to whom she called dad.  He loved Robin and looked forward to her visits.  He was predeceased by his daughters, Renay Didato and Wanda McLean, two sisters, Maxine Lavin and Inez Mahar, and son-in-law, Mark Lemanski.
