Dr. John Andrew Intravia, a devoted husband, father, and highly respected gastroenterologist, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 28, 1950, John lived a life defined by compassion, excellence, and service to others.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Ann Intravia; his children, Morgan Intravia, Marissa and Michael Loring, Robert and Tori Harris, Kelly Stairs and Walker Hartz, and Darcy and Kyle Uustal; as well as eight adored grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Irene Intravia.

John grew up in Little Neck, NY, and spent his summers in East Hampton, NY, at his parents' summer home. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Cathy, for 22 wonderful years and was looking forward to celebrating their 23rd anniversary. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter, living in Connecticut for much of their marriage before later splitting their time between Connecticut and Florida, eventually settling in Longboat Key, FL. John cherished his family deeply and was endlessly proud of their accomplishments.

He earned his degrees from Georgetown University and Saint Louis University School of Medicine, completing his residency at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center of New York and his fellowship at the University of Connecticut.

John distinguished himself through his dedication to medicine and his natural leadership among peers. Throughout his education and medical career, he was known for mentoring colleagues and guiding others with generosity and integrity. His career as a gastroenterologist spanned decades, beginning with his own private practice. In 1996, he joined Middlesex Gastrointestinal Associates in Middletown, CT, as a partner, where he continued to provide exceptional care to countless patients and to support and inspire fellow physicians.

John was also deeply committed to philanthropy, supporting organizations such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Joseph Indian School, and St. Labre Indian School. His compassion extended far beyond his medical practice, he truly believed in giving back and improving the lives of others in every way he could.

He found joy with his wife and family in wine collecting, traveling often, and loved spending days at the beach and on his boat. Those who knew John will remember his unwavering dedication to his patients, his boundless love for his family, and his zest for life. A devout Catholic, he found comfort and strength in his faith, which remained a cornerstone throughout his life and sustained him with peace and grace until the very end. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, November 18th, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home in Middletown, CT. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 19th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Middletown, CT.

Donations may be made in John's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Joseph Indian School, or St. Labre Indian School.
