It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John E. Govoni on September 14, 2026, at his home in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 83. John was a longtime resident of Middletown, Connecticut, where he was well known as both a respected business owner and a friend to many.

John was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1943 and graduated from Rocky Hill High School, where he developed his lifelong love of motorcycles and muscle cars. He loved working with his hands and could fix just about anything, one way or another. He turned this talent into a successful plumbing business, operating G & G Plumbing for more than 25 years. Around town, G & G Plumbing was easily recognized by John's big red box truck, a familiar sight that reflected his hard work and dedication to his customers.

Although John worked hard throughout his life, he also knew how to enjoy it. He was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and honest, straightforward approach to life. You never had to wonder what was on John's mind. He spoke his truth, and those who knew him appreciated him for it.

John and his beloved wife, Nita, shared 55 wonderful years of marriage and adventure together. They traveled the country, creating memories and checking countless destinations and experiences off their bucket lists. Whether riding his Harley down an open highway or cruising in one of his cherished antique hot rods, John embraced life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure.

After one too many cold Connecticut winters, John decided to head south to Florida, where he continued his passion for cars. He quickly found a community among fellow car enthusiasts and made many lasting friendships. Surrounded by year-round car shows and sunshine, John found what he considered paradise and the place he was proud to call home.

John was many things to many people. To all who knew him, he was funny, loyal, genuine, and respectful. Most importantly, he was always himself.

John is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Juanita "Nita" Govoni of Bradenton, Florida; his daughter, Angie Govoni of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Middletown, Connecticut; his son-in-law, Andy, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland; and his cherished granddaughter, Savannah Drygal of St. Petersburg, Florida. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many close friends whom John considered family.

John's journey may have come to an end, but his love, strength, humor, and adventurous spirit will remain in our hearts forever. We find comfort in knowing that he spent a lifetime doing what he loved alongside the people he loved most. His story lives on in those whose lives he touched, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved. ❤️

A wake for John will be held on Monday September 21st at Biega Funeral Home 3 Silver St. Middletown from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m.  The burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery on Bow ln in Middletown.
