John "JB" Barber, 79, of East Haddam, beloved husband of Brenda (Parker) Barber, died Monday, January 23, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.

JB was born in Middletown, son of the late, John and Dolores (Chelifoux) Barber.  Prior to his retirement, JB was employed as an engine technician with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft.  JB attended Watkinson School, Trinity College and University of Hartford.  He enjoyed researching about different wines and had an extensive wine collection.  JB loved the outdoor life; taking hikes with his dogs, vacationing at Lake George and Saratoga Racetrack and sharing these experiences with family and friends.

Besides his wife, Brenda, JB is survived by a daughter, Renee Barber of Middletown, a brother, Joseph Barber of East Hampton, three sisters, Martha Harrington of East Haddam, Theresa Parady of East Haddam, Sheryl Gagen of Hadlyme. He also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as a fur-daughter, Emma and a fur-granddaughter, Tilly.  He was predeceased by a brother, Francis Barber and three sisters Pamela Mills, Carol Thody, Laura Davis.
