Obituary

Joan L Perruccio, 94, of Naples Florida; formerly of Middlefield, Connecticut, passed away on October 15, 2026 after a brief period of declining health.

Joan was born on February 9th, 1932 in Wallingford, CT to the late John and Alice (Galsenski) Lockert. Joan married Joseph Perruccio on January 9th, 1954 and was happily married until Joe's passing on July 19th, 2021. She never took her wedding ring off and told family that she was "still married” to "the best man she ever met" three days before she passed. Dancing brought them together in 1953 and continued throughout their lives.

Such was the love story of Joan and Joe. She has rejoined him and, we hope, dancing with him again in heaven.

Joan and Joe raised their sons in Middlefield, CT. They then re-located to Naples, FL upon their retirement in the early 90’s and developed many new friendships. They were active members of St. John the Evangelist Church in Naples. Joan and Joe traveled to many Caribbean destinations, as well as Italy, England, Germany, and Greece.

Joan was, at various points in her life, a member of the St. Colman’s Ladies Guild, a little league mom for all her son’s, and a knitter and crocheter. In her final years, she consumed romance novels and the family is worried that the industry may never recover.

Joan is survived by her loving sons, Greg (Jan) Perruccio of Essex CT; George Perruccio of Middletown, CT; daughter-in-law, Sarah Perruccio of Portland, CT and Kim Perruccio of Roxton TX. She is also survived by grandchildren Matthew (Rachel) Perruccio of Portland, CT; Mallory (Matt) Rowley of Portland CT; Evan Perruccio (Tiffany) of Roxton, TX; Erik Perruccio of Fort Worth, TX and Timothy Rhone (fiancée Rebecca) of Lebanon, NH and her 2 great grandsons Perron and Riker Perruccio of Roxton, TX. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Josephine Monthei, of Middlefield, CT and many nieces and nephews. Everyone will want her Christmas cookie recipes, so we are making copies.

Besides her husband, Joan was predeceased by her sons, Gerry and Gary Perruccio and her siblings; William Lockert, Rose Poirier, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Her family wishes to thank Vitas Hospice of Naples, Florida, Sharon Lauter for her support for the past 3 years, and Joan’s healthcare team at Naples Community Hospital.

Calling hours will be held at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, on Friday (Oct. 30th) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Colman Church, Hubbard Street, Middlefield on Saturday, (Oct. 31st) at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan’s name to Special Olympics, Connecticut, or the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department.
