It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan D. Kuzminski, who left us after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

After graduating from college, Joan began her banking career at Hartford National Bank. She later met the love of her life, John, with whom she shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.

Together they bought a home and settled in Killingworth, where they built a life filled with love, service, and community. Joan continued her career at American Savings Bank until its merger with TD Bank and later joined American Eagle Credit Union at Pratt & Whitney, retiring as Assistant Manager.

A devout Catholic, Joan served her parish faithfully -   volunteering as a counter and helping to run both the Strawberry Festival and the Christmas Fairs. Her dedication extended to her community as well; she was involved in emergency management and was a founding member of the Killingworth Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. She cherished traveling with her husband to antique fire truck musters throughout New England.

Joan also treasured time spent with her sister Martha, especially the cruises they enjoyed together. Her favorite pastime, however, was camping across New England. She held a special fondness for Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, and loved relaxing by the campfire at Hammonasset State Park.

Joan leaves behind her loving husband, John; her son, John G,; her sister, Martha L. Moody; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her beloved dog, Bailey, who never left her side.

Calling hours will be held at St. Lawrence Church, 7 Hemlock Dr., Killingworth, CT 06419 on Thursday December 11th, from 5-7 p.m. A Funeral mass will be held the next day (Dec. 12th) at St. Lawrence Church at 10 a.m.; the burial will be held privately for the family.
