Obituary

Jeffrey P. Munson, 39, of Cromwell, passed suddenly on Monday, August 14, 2023.  Jeff was born in Middletown, the son, of Paul Munson of Cromwell and the late Patricia R. Fekete of Durham.

Jeff grew up in Durham and went to high school at Vinal Technical School in Middletown, followed by Full Sail University where he got an Associate's Degree in graphic design. He was an amazing artist since he was very young and loved to draw whatever came to mind when he had downtime. Jeff spent many years working at print shops in both Connecticut and Florida creating artwork for business, including the logo for his brother-in-law's business which Jeff later worked for.

Jeff was inspired by anything in nature. His love for the ocean was shared with his mom – both of them found peace in the sand and turquoise water. Jeff was also fascinated by the sky and used to love going on hikes with his dog, Aslin. In fact, Jeff loved all dogs and there probably isn't a dog out there that didn't love him in return. Jeff also loved helping others. Whether doing outreach programs in Florida or simply helping a friend move, Jeff was always there to lend a hand (although he was famous for being late).

Anyone that knew Jeff knew that his absolute best pastime was spending time with friends and family. It says a lot about someone when they are still best friends with people they grew up with. Phil, Kat, Matt Lehet, Joey G, Ben H, Jay R, and Melissa were more than just friends to Jeff. They were family, and Jeff loved them and their families as if they were his own.

Jeff loved going to his sister, Jill's, house and spending time with her, his brother-in-law, Sean, and his niece and nephew, Hayley and Koltin. Jeff had a very special relationship with the kids. He had no problem sitting on the floor with them to color, play with stuffed animals, or help them make forts (or "nuts" as Jeff and Jill used to call them as kids). The kids would always ask Uncle Jeff to stay a few minutes longer, or when he was coming back again.

Since moving back from Florida, Jeff and his father built a very strong relationship. He would go to his dad's house often to look for advice, talk about life, remember the old days, and simply just be together. Jeff was so grateful to have his dad and Cass nearby to talk to, lean on, and learn from.

When Jeff was younger, he had a very close connection with his mom, Patty. When she passed in 2010, Jeff was heartbroken and always looked for ways to stay connected to her. He used to frequently tell his sister that he had dreams about their mom where he was able to see her, talk to her, and even hug her. It seems that if there is any silver lining in this, Jeff is now able to be with his mom who he missed so incredibly much.

Jeff is survived by his father, Paul Munson, and his wife Cassandra of Cromwell, a sister, Jill Raymond of Southington, her husband, Sean, and their two kids Hayley and Koltin, as well as aunts, uncles, countless cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church 50 Court St, Cromwell. A reception will immediately follow at the Hawthorne Inn 2421 Berlin Turnpike, Berlin. All are welcome to attend. Friends and family may call at Biega Funeral Home 3 Silver Street, Middletown on Sunday, August 20, from 4 to 6 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family will be setting up a scholarship fund at a later date.
