Jeffery William Harvey, 68, of Middletown, married to Joan Warzecha Harvey, the love of his life, died Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Middletown, the son of the late Willie "Bill" and Florence (Maloney) Harvey.
Jeff worked alongside his family at Harvey & Sons Dairy Farm milking cows twice a day, making hay, and growing corn for feed most of his life. He carried on the legacy of family farming with his son and grandson. He passed on his passion for tractors, and they continued to make hay together as recently as last week. Jeff and Joan owned, operated, and maintained the greenhouse at Brush Hill Farm. Jeff worked at Schaller Tire and Jackson Chevrolet prior to serving as Master Mechanic, then promoted to Fleet Manager for the Middletown Public Works City Yard. He retired from the City of Middletown in 2012, after serving the city for 38 years.
Jeff, the man, the myth, the legend, was strong in body, mind, and spirit in everything he did. He was patient, kind, and fed everyone he has ever met. He loved cooking and was a Pitmaster as part of the BBQ Pit Boys. Jeff was the lifeblood of the Beeler Boys. He was also a member of the Elks Club, Polish Falcons Club, Moose Club, Tobacco Valley Flywheelers, and Kosciuszko Club. Jeff, along with Dick Doane and Dick Hanley, created the Middlesex County Garden Tractor Pullers. He was instrumental in the organization and operation of the Motorized Events Ring at the Durham Fair for 25 years.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by one son, Dennis Harvey and his wife Amanda, and two daughters, Serena Warzecha and her fiancé Erik Bork, and Alissa Elliott and her husband Chris; two grandchildren, Jade and Joseph, and one great-granddaughter, Payton; two brothers, Calvin Harvey, and Glen Harvey and his wife Denise; one nephew, Todd Harvey and his husband Dan Gameche, and two nieces, Leigh Harvey (son Josiah) and Morgan Harvey (daughter Ava and son Hudson). Jeff is also survived by the communities of Middletown, CT and Englewood, FL of which will never recover from the loss of such an amazing man.
Family and friends may call at the Elks Club on Wednesday, July 23, from 11am-2pm in the Crystal Ballroom, 44 Maynard Street, Middletown, CT 06457. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Flowers may be sent to Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
