Jean Caffrey, 97, of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late Carroll A. Caffrey, passed away peacefully after a long, beautifully lived life Monday, December 25, 2023 at St. Mary Home. She was born in Meriden, the daughter of the late John R. and Magdaline (Kuczala) Hart. Jean was a Registered Nurse and served as a Cadet Nurse and later worked for Sanibel in Middletown and Durham Convalescent Home.

Almost always known as "Nannie", she was a friend to all and loved her family dearly. She was likely the first to share a story about traveling, whether true or exaggerated. She kept every garden full of life, as well as her wardrobe; there was no such thing as overdressed. She loved all things sweet, and anything UConn.

Jean is survived by her son, Tony Caffrey, and his wife Hildy of Branford; daughter, Kayci Jandreau of East Hartford; grandchildren, Kallee Jae Jandreau, Brendan Caffrey, Alyssa Caffrey; Two great-grandchildren Emery Laine, and Elyse Jean, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll; son-in-law, Terry Jandreau; brother, Edward Hart; sisters, Patricia Zygmont, Eileen Eno, and Mary Jane Hart.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13th 9 a.m. at St. Mary of Czestochowa 79 South Main Street Middletown, with burial following at State Veterans Cemetery 317 Bow Ln. Middletown.
