Janet (Wojtowicz) Watrous, 87, of Cromwell, beloved wife of the late Richard A. “Deke” Watrous, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Benchmark at South Farms in Middletown. Janet was born in Middletown, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Jamrog) Wojtowicz.

Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was centered around her deep love for her family, faith, and community.

She is survived by her loving children: her son and daughter-in-law, John and Lapat Watrous of Middletown, her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Leo Breton, of Lewes, Delaware; her cherished grandchildren and great grandchild, John Watrous Jr., his wife Suseth Perez Rafael, their daughter Ketziah Watrous Perez, Rocio Watrous, Ian Deegan, Adam Deegan; her step-grandchildren Kanyanat and Teeraphat Pongsupan, and Kyle, Hannah, Max, Jamie and Samuel Breton; her sister-in-law Mimi Watrous; her nieces and nephews Anne Santangelo, Marie Oleen, Joanne Iemma, Michael and Mark Kochanski, Carla Johnson, Shelley Palermo and Mina Watrous, in addition to a large extended family.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, Richard; her sister, Marion Kochanski; her four brothers, John, Walter, Charles, and Joseph Wojtowicz; her brother-in-law David Watrous; her nieces and nephew Karol Howard, Theresa Wojtowicz and Kenneth Kochanski.

Janet immensely enjoyed a variety of sewing and crafts, cooking and SHOPPING. She had fond memories of trips with her best friend Susan Sonstrom as well as her husband Deke and “the girls” Annie, Karol and Karen. Growing up in the Polish community in Middletown, she attended St Mary’s Church and School. In Cromwell, Janet was a Girl Scout leader for many years and a life long supporter of St. John Church. And she LOVED dogs. Her dogs were a very important part of her life. Deserving causes Janet supported included: Catholic Relief Charities, American Cancer Society, ASPCA, and Disabled American Veterans.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday, August 31, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Saint John Church, Cromwell. Friends and family may call at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown on Sunday August 30th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
