Janet L. (Hanson) Klare, 88, of Middletown, died Thursday, July 29, 2022 at Middlesex Hospital.  Janet was born in Middletown, daughter of the late, Ernest E. Hanson and Emma Jein (Corkin) Hanson.

Prior to her retirement, Janet was employed as a Bank Teller for City Savings Bank, Farmer's and Mechanic's Bank and Citizen's Bank.  She will be remembered for always giving her bank customers lollipops and their dogs, treats. She was also a founding member of the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company Women's Auxiliary.

Janet is survived by two daughters, Lori Zapatka of Old Saybrook, Jodi Klare of East Berlin, a son Gary Klare and his wife Judy of Old Lyme, four grandchildren, Cassandra Klare, Timothy Klare, Jennifer Zapatka, Sean Zapatka and his wife Christina and their son, Janet's great grandson, Xander John Zapatka and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Hadden.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5 ^th at 10 a.m. at 1055 Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Randolph Road, Middletown.  Friends may gather prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
