Middletown
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness we announce that our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend, Janet Rose (Gianakos) Groeper of Cromwel, Ct. passed away at the age of 76, on Sunday, December 17, 2023 with her family by her side. Born November 14, 1947 to the late Peter and Teresa Gianakos.
Janet was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Lester F. Groeper. Beloved sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Hutton.
Janet loved her family, she took pride in hosting all of the Holiday dinners at her house (she was a fantastic cook!), you would often find Janet tending to her flower gardens at her East Hampton home. Janet loved to travel to Mexico and Shelter Island to visit her Sissy and Tony, lots of memories of the Brieremere pies! Thank you, Tony, she had the most amazing time at your beautiful Shelter Island home. Most recently, she truly enjoyed playing set back and bingo with her Covenant Living friends. They all meant the world to her.
Janet held many job titles throughout her time with us. She retired from the City of Middletown where she was a 911 dispatcher for over 15 years. After her retirement, Janet opened a boutique in honor of her late father, Peter James Boutique.
Anyone that knows Janet, knows she fought long and hard until the end to stay with us. She leaves behind to mourn her passing, Son and Daughter in law Peter and Maria (Spada) Groeper, Daughter and Son in law, LeeAnn (Groeper-Tomasino) and Jozef Blaszczyk.
