James R. Flannigan, 90, of Cromwell, formerly of Middletown, husband of Janet (Scanlon) Flannigan, died Monday August 15, 2022 at Middlesex Hospital.

He was born in Portland, the son of the late John Flannigan, Sr. and Diane (Pelchat) Begley.  A veteran of the Korean War, James served with the US Army.  Prior to his retirement, he was a carpenter at CT Valley Hospital.  James was a lifetime member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 771. He enjoyed watching the UCONN women's basketball team, spending time with his family and visiting his nephew Eugene Flannigan of Middletown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Charlene Valentine (David) of Arroyo Grande, CA and Pamela Daniels (George) of Groton, CT; three granddaughters, Nicolette Andolfo (Matthew), Cara Brooks (Daniel) and Morgan Daniels (Peter); four great grandchildren, Elyse, Donnan, Ada, and Rayna; also several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Harold Flannigan; and sister, Jeanne Zadroga.

Funeral services and burial are private. There are no calling hours.
